Part Time Managing Editor
Title: Managing Editor
Reports to: Publisher, Medical News
Purpose: Help the Medical News team manage and produce the content for an outstanding web site and monthly newspaper.

We are a 17 year old media company focused on the business of healthcare in Kentucky and Southern Indiana. Our mission is to bethe leading source for the healthcare business community to stay informed, grow their businesses and build relationships around important issues.
The Opportunity
We seek a managing editor who can help our team produce all content for Medical News and its web site, www.medicalnews.md. The best candidate will have a positive, team oriented approach, a commitment to excellence, and prior editing experience.
The position is part-time with flexibility around weekdays worked. A minimum of 2 ½ work days is anticipated.
Specific Responsibilities Include
- Managing pictures, ads, submitted articles, and columns.
- Take from initial concept to final layout to print.
- Manage flow of press releases and other information, such as awards and lists.
- Research and fact checking.
- Regular updates for the web site.
Skills and Experience
1. Editing - an ability to interpret and manage information form a variety of sources.
2. Organization – highly organized and efficient with large amounts of data and information.
3. Relationship and Teamwork Skills – an ability to establish and maintain relationships with a broad base of individuals from our advertisers to our columnists to our partner organizations.
4. Healthcare – some experience in the healthcare industry.
Education:
Have obtained or are currently pursuing an associate or bachelor degree.
