In two months, the second Louisville Innovation Summit will be held, gathering 500 executives and entrepreneurs focused on the Future of Aging Care. The Louisville Innovation Summit is the industry’s only conference uniquely focused on wellness and aging care technology and innovation. This is the second such gathering of the largest collection of thought-leaders, innovators, entrepreneurs and CEOs in lifelong wellness to share ideas and chart the future of the industry.
“Those who come to Louisville for the Summit won’t leave disappointed,” said Vickie Yates Brown, President and CEO of Nucleus: Kentucky’s Innovation Center. “The Summit will provide a great opportunity for entrepreneurs to personally meet leaders in the industry, pitch their companies, and experience a rich discussion of ideas and a healthy exchange of perspectives on the future of aging care and lifelong wellness.”
Nucleus, an arm of the University of Louisville Foundation, oversees the J.D. Nichols Campus for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, a hub of companies and agencies dedicated to aging care and entrepreneurial pursuits located near downtown Louisville.
Aneesh Chopra, the first Chief Technology Officer of the U.S. and assistant to President Obama who helped launch Startup America, among many other initiatives, will be the keynote speaker. Chopra’s talk will be set up as a conversation with Dr. Jordan Shlain, primary care physician, digital health entrepreneur and respected writer and thought leader in national health policy.
Chopra is currently a leader at Hunch Analytics, a “hatchery” incubating ideas that improve the productivity of health and education markets, including NavHealth, an open data intelligence service. In 2011, Chopra was named to Modern Healthcare’s list of the “100 Most Influential People in Healthcare.”
More than 50 other top industry visionaries will be speaking at the Summit, including executives from AARP, Humana, IDEO, Kindred Healthcare, Signature Healthcare, and many others.
With 21,000+ professionals producing more than $50 billion in revenue, Louisville is home to the nation’s largest collection of headquarters in nursing home, rehabilitation, assisted living and home health administration
This large industry base makes Louisville the natural place for us to chart the future of the industry. Guided and supported by Louisville-based Founding Partners Delta Dental of Kentucky, Humana, Kindred, ResCare, Signature and Trilogy, the Louisville Innovation Summit promises to be an enlightening experience.
“The Louisville Innovation Summit Pitch is the only platform that offers entrepreneurs the opportunity to pitch directly to multiple providers, gain the exposure, business model feedback and the access to industry leaders who are actively navigating the challenging healthcare environment, said Alicia Heazlitt, Director of Development & Innovation at Signature HealthCARE. “Providers are calling on the entrepreneurial community to continue to create solutions that improve quality, save costs and partner with us in the evolution of the post-acute care continuum. Signature HealthCARE is excited to meet the latest start-ups this October and find new innovative partners.”
For the Startup Pitch event, from the selected 10 national and 5 Kentucky finalists, judges will select 1 national and 1 Kentucky winner. Finalists must have launched their product/service within 18 months of the October 14-15, 2015 event date, and cannot have raised more than $7 million funding. Finalists will compete in front of a live audience of Summit attendees and three judges. Winners will receive a cash award, mentoring, advising and other services supplied by the sponsors of the Louisville Innovation Summit.
Online registration for the Louisville Innovation Summit is currently open for the October 14-15 event. Registration and updated programming information is available at www.LISummit.com.
