Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services has been ranked as a “Best Regional Hospital” for the Louisville Metro Area in U.S. News & World Report’s 2012-13 Best Hospitals rankings. Floyd Memorial is the only Southern Indiana hospital to make the list. The hospital is recognized in four specialty areas, including Cancer, Heart and Heart Surgery, Gastroenterology and Pulmonology. Floyd Memorial is also ranked among the top hospitals in the state of Indiana.
The 23rd annual U.S. News rankings showcase 732 Best Regional Hospitals, from nearly 4,800 hospitals nationwide. US News and World Report show facilities that score high in patient safety, demonstrating commitment to reducing accidents and medical mistakes.
“It is an honor to once again be recognized for the outstanding quality care provided at Floyd Memorial,” said Mark Shugarman, President and CEO of Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services. “We have an outstanding team of physicians, associates and volunteers who continually strive to provide expert medicine and exceptional care.”
It was only six years ago, that Floyd Memorial opened the Heart and Vascular Center – the first Southern Indiana hospital to perform heart surgery. Then in 2010, Floyd Memorial strengthened its cancer services by partnering with what is now known as the Floyd Memorial Cancer Center of Indiana. “We expanded our offerings so that Southern Indiana residents would have the piece of mind of staying close to home for high-tech, top quality healthcare, and we couldn’t be more proud that our high quality care is once again confirmed by US News and World Report,” said Shugarman.
